If you’re here it means you’re interested in getting started with service design either for a company you work for or for your own product. These resources should help with your design thinking process and implementing service design projects, but in most cases you will still need a facilitator to help you guide through the implementation. The steps in getting started with service design are quite simple, but because they overlap at times with traditional methods of management and product development in a silos mode, it’s very easy to get carried away and switch back to autopilot when implementing these steps. The counterintuitive thing about innovation is that it has to be fast, but the best innovation is in lean processes where you have multiple feedback loops with your users to understand what they really need you to build.
That’s why I invite you to give this a good read! As soon as you come up with an idea, service design begins. Your idea can be placed in a context and you give it a backbone and life by developing on the double diamond framework. It can be organized as a design sprint for a few days or brainstorming of a few hours. The basics are covered when you have some hypothesis and assumptions you want to test, some idea of how an MVP looks like and you start building a prototype. Building an MVP is your gateway to testing market fit and gaining agility in your product development. Only now you can properly say you’re innovating “at speed”. Now you’re really listening to customer insights, delivering value and keeping a sustainable business model where people are at the center of your organization. That’s where resources in design thinking come handy! There’s more in the PDF below!
